Their first cold case involved the case of a 16-year-old African American teen, Elbert Eugene Washington, who was killed in a small Mississippi town. In the second book, Jefferson-Davis investigates the death of an African American blues singer, Moses Jackson, whose death went unsolved for 20 years, also in Mississippi.
