The play, performed in Copenhagen in 1890, caused great debate and fierce controversy. Kynoch is also a founding member of the Danish Theatre Forum Europe. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eKirsten E Shepherd is Professor of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St Catherine's College, Oxford.
